How Far in Advance Should We Book Our Wedding Officiant?

Once you know your wedding date and location, it's a good idea to start talking with potential officiants rather than waiting until the last minute.

There isn't one booking timeframe that's right for every Rings, Bells and Bliss couple.

Some couples plan well ahead. Others decide to get married much sooner.

That's why the easiest answer is:

Contact me when you know your date.

Why contact an officiant early?

Your wedding officiant isn't just another name to cross off your wedding checklist.

This is the person who will stand with you during your ceremony, so you want enough time to determine whether that person feels like the right fit.

Contacting me also gives us time to discuss the type of ceremony you're envisioning.

Is our date automatically reserved when we inquire?

No.

Submitting an inquiry or having an initial conversation does not secure your wedding date.

After receiving your website inquiry, I'll reach out to schedule a 5–10 minute phone call to learn about your plans and make sure I'm a good fit.

Your wedding date is secured once I receive your signed contract and full payment.

There is no separate deposit or retainer.

What if we're planning months in advance?

You can contact me once you have your date and enough information to begin discussing your ceremony.

Booking ahead can also give us more time to work on ceremony details and your vows if you'd like assistance.

What if we're getting married next week?

Call or text me and ask about availability.

Don't assume that because your wedding is approaching, it's too late.

What about today?

Same-day ceremonies may be accommodated when availability allows.

If you have your valid marriage license and need an officiant quickly, call or text me so I can let you know whether I'm available.

I won't guarantee same-day availability because my schedule varies.

Should we book before our ceremony is written?

Yes, you don't need a completed ceremony before contacting me.

Helping you create the ceremony is part of what I offer.

I can also provide assistance with your vows.

What if we need a rehearsal?

Rehearsals are available for an additional fee.

Mention the rehearsal during our conversation so we can discuss your plans and scheduling.

Ready to check your wedding date?

Have your date, approximate ceremony time and location ready.
